Within a meadow setting, Globe Thistles are invaluable for attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinators. The foliage is strong with sharply serrated silvery-green leaves, adding a lovely contrast to the more loose plantings of the meadow. Echinops ‘Arctic Glow’ grows 2 to 3 ft tall and the silver-colored flowers balance like little prickly ping-pong balls above the foliage. Arctic Glow makes a good cut flower and an excellent dried flower. Additionally, even after the flowers have faded, the foliage and the seed heads remain to grace the winter garden. Globe thistles are drought tolerant and hardy to zone 3.
