Knautia Macedonica

When I initially began to plan my backyard meadow, I had visions of this plant in my head. It is incredibly well suited to a Meadow setting; small, intense flowers balance on wiry stems, rising far above the clumping foliage which really creates an open and airy effect. Each flower is a rich burgundy color and resembles a tiny pincushion. Knautia combines well with Molinia and Panicum Grasses and I especially enjoy the contrast when paired with the upright spikes of white Veronica. Knautia macedonica is drought tolerant and hardy. Its vibrantly colored flowers make it a pollinator magnet
