This low growing ornamental grass forms beautiful clumps of blue green foliage standing about 12 in tall at maturity. Deep purple black flowers appear midsummer, protruding from the mound in a rounded shape. The plumes are heavier than those of many other varieties of Molinia. Seed heads persist all winter through rain, snow, wind and cold. One of the things I love about Molinas is that they emerge early in the spring while many of the other grasses are still dormant. A great addition to the meadow garden Edith Dudszus puts on a striking fall show, with foliage turning a vibrant bronze-gold.
