Persicaria Amplexicaulis | Orange Field
Persicaria Amplexicaulis | Orange Field
I highly recommend this Persicaria variety for its incredibly long bloom season. ‘Orange Field’ generally begins to bloom the first week of Summer and they continue to bloom until a hard frost puts an end to the show. It features long spikes of salmon, rose-colored blooms propped above course dark green foliage. Additionally, the blooms are incredibly popular with bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Unfortunately, Persacaria tends to flop and gets a little messy after frost; we recommend cutting the plant back hard in winter. I use them near the back of the meadow where other winter interest plants and grasses can hide the holes that they leave behind. Persicaria ‘Orange Field’ is a non-invasive variety and reaches 3 feet at maturity. It is tolerant of many different soil types and hardy to zone 4.
