With its striking color and enticing flavor, CherryBerry is a unique and eye-catching addition to the gardeners repertoire. A relatively new cultiver, you won’t find this variety in the supermarket; it was introduced in 2021 and remains very rare. Cherry Berry features vibrant burgundy-purple colored strawberries with a distinct cherry flavor. The heart-shaped berries are medium to large in size and ripen over a short period in late june. They are firm and well-suited for short-term storage. CherryBerry grows to a height of 6 inches, with a moderate spread of 12 inches; ideal for containers and hanging baskets. Strawberries prefer well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Mulching around the plants is recommended to help retain moisture, control weeds, and keep the fruit clean. A cold-tolerant cultivar, CherryBerry thrives in USDA zones 4 through 8.

Common Strawberry Questions

How should I care for my Strawberry Plants?

Strawberries prefer well-drained, slightly acidic soil with full sun exposure. Space the plants 8 - 12 inches apart and ensure the crown is level with the soil surface. Water regularly, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged, and mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Apply compost or organic fertilizer in early spring and after harvest to promote growth. After 3–4 years, replace plants to maintain productivity.

What are everbearing strawberries?

Everbearing strawberries produce fruit multiple times throughout the growing season. Typically, they produce a smaller harvest in early spring, a larger main crop in mid-summer, and a final smaller crop in the fall. This makes them a great choice for gardeners who want to enjoy strawberries over a longer period of time. They tend to have a more compact growth habit, making them ideal for containers and smaller garden spaces.

What are June-bearing strawberries?

June-bearing strawberries produce a single, large harvest typically in late spring or early summer, depending on the variety and climate. These strawberries tend to produce larger berries in higher quantities, but they fruit only once per season. June-bearing varieties are popular among gardeners who want to enjoy a big harvest at once, perfect for making jams and preserves.
